Therapeutic massage is an umbrella term for massage techniques that address a specific ailment or injury. Deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release are most commonly utilized in this type of therapy. Along with targeting knots and adhesions, therapeutic massage also strives to realign the layers of muscles and connective tissues that act as the root cause of aches, pains, and discomfort in a specific location. This type of massage therapy not only provides relief, but also the groundwork to resolve the issue itself. Depending on your condition, your practitioner may use a lighter touch for less painful areas and a deeper massage technique to address areas of tension and restriction.

This therapy focuses on delivering light to medium pressure to broader areas of the body and aims to warm-up the muscles, soothe the mind, and relieve general tension and stressors. In comparison to a therapeutic massage, a relaxation treatment puts less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or “knots” in the muscle tissue, and endeavors toward stimulating the body’s 'parasympathetic nervous system'. This positively impacts our overall health in a multitude of ways.

TCM Acupuncture views the human body as a whole, rather than separating it into a collection of symptoms and body parts. All symptoms experienced by the patient, whether they are physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, are part of one expression of illness. Treating the whole person and his/her entire combination of symptoms, rather than ‘fixing’ a single symptom alone, creates a better opportunity for the whole body to heal.

Acupuncture, itself, is the practice of inserting ultra fine needles into specific points of energy that are located along 14 meridians or channels that cover the entire body. There are 365 classical acupuncture points associated with the 14 meridians. These points and meridians, mapped out millennia ago and confirmed by consistent practice, have shown that skillful insertion and manipulation of specific points will produce predictable results in the body.

Foot Massage

A foot massage is a type of massage that focuses solely on – you guessed it – the feet. During a foot massage, your feet undergo a very relaxing experience as the reflex zones are manipulated. Your practitioner may ask about your ailments, and use the reflex zones in your feet to help alleviate them. Others may just knead and massage your feet from the heels to toes to release any tension.

Each session of RAPID is usually a combination of examination and treatment. In order to provide the most effective treatment, the practitioner will use their hands to evaluate the movement of muscle tissues, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormalities in these areas are treated by combining direct tension with specific patient movements. RAPID sessions may be uncomfortable during the movement phase of the treatment. This occurs as the neurological system is being stimulated to restore normal function.

By doing this, you prepare yourself to become the receiver of sound. It’s in this place of stillness that you participate by becoming more open and aware of each sound that comes in. Sound helps create the pathway to this place of stillness the same as a mantra helps you to arrive at the still point of meditation. Sound not only helps with inducing relaxation, but also has a way of moving through areas of blockage. Sound has the ability to positively affect our whole being. Sound Healing Therapy can be experienced as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with massage therapy or other specialized holistic health modalities.

A TMJ Massage is a massage for jaw pain. Your masseter muscle is your primary chewing muscle, it covers the sides of the jaw just behind the cheeks. It’s also the muscle that clenches your jaw and grinds your teeth. It can hold a lot of tension, and unfortunately, and it’s one of the most common locations for trigger points in the body. Because of this tension there is a very strong connection between tension headaches and jaw muscle tension. Whether it's a jaw injury, jaw fatigue, arthritis, grinding/clenching, tension headaches, or improper posture causing muscular imbalances in the jaw area, regular massage in this area can help immensely. TMJ massage gently works the muscles of the jaw, which can increase circulation to help decrease inflammation and speed up healing. The treatment itself is not painful, and a reduction in symptoms are generally felt immediately. TMJ therapy can be experienced as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with massage therapy.

A MESSAGE FROM ANNIE:

“I am so proud to be a member of a profession that provides therapeutic treatment in the most pure and natural manner possible…touch. In a world where the treatment of pain and stress is often overcomplicated with medications and prescriptions, we forget that there are many natural therapies that are incredibly effective at managing, and even curing, a wide range of health conditions. Our bodies are in constant need of maintenance and “refining” through nutrition, exercise, and physical therapies such as massage. Our minds are in constant need of relaxation, rest, and “re-finding”, which we can acquire through self-care, time with loved ones, and mental therapies such as massage.

In my experience as a Massage Therapist, I have worked with clients of all ages and have treated a variety of health conditions. Each day has been unique and has presented me with new challenges and experiences. I truly love what I do! The clinical aspect of massage therapy has always been my greatest interest, and I constantly strive to learn more about the human body and mind.

My goal has always been to provide the most comprehensive, direct, and effective treatments, and to give each client a personal, trusting, and stress-free experience. I am here for the wellbeing of you and your family. Thank you in advance for trusting me with the care of your body and mind. I look forward to meeting you in the near future!”

A MESSAGE FROM KATHLEEN:

“Having been in practice since 2000, it is interesting to look back and see how the profession of massage therapy, and myself as a therapist, have evolved. I come from a very clinical background in massage therapy and have worked with clients facing a variety of circumstances and issues – PTSD, prenatal, infertility, athletic injuries, repetitive use injuries, just to name a few.

As clients come for massage therapy to address unique conditions, each presenting dynamic challenges, I feel very fortunate that I been able to acquire a vast spectrum of skills and tools to successfully determine effective ways to improve their quality of life and well being. These tools have been invaluable to me over my years in the industry and in the variety of locations I have been able to offer my services.

We have all experienced first hand how society around us, and our private lives, have become increasingly busy, demanding, complex, and stressful. It is fabulous to be in a profession that acts in a therapeutic manner, from a physical standpoint, and also acknowledges one’s mental self. The strong connection between the two have led me to expand my knowledge in techniques that facilitate the entire process of bringing the mind and body back into a natural state of well-being and self-healing.

My experience gained through working with horses has taught me a lot about the importance of being completely present in each massage therapy session and really listening to the body for what it needs. They have shown me that while direct/firm pressure can be quite effective at releasing muscles, the use of a more subtle technique can also cause a large release in the muscles and fascia of the body. They are often much better than we are at living in the moment and not letting the mind interfere with the healing of the body.

It is astonishing how everything in the body is connected in such a complex way. On many occasions, in order to address and release areas that are causing issue, Massage Therapists often have to work in areas that are not bothering you at all. Subtle techniques such as Craniosacral Therapy and Sound Therapy can have profound and substantial impacts on these areas, and the entire body, even though they are so gentle and soothing.

During each session I provide to my clients, I try to incorporate the right combination of the techniques that I have learned, with the goal of reducing muscle tightness and pain, and promoting tranquillity and relaxation.

I look forward to helping you on your healing journey to being the healthy you that you are meant to be!”

A MESSAGE FROM LACEY:

“It is my core belief that the true fountain of youth is found in taking time to care for yourself and your body. Ten years ago, I fell in love with strength training, and pretty much all things health, after realizing just how much hidden stress I had put on my body after a long-time desk career. It became clear to me that I wanted to pursue a career that would incorporate my love for fitness, health, and the body’s abilities. And so, my journey into massage therapy began.

The flow, pace, and feeling of tension dissolving in the body during a treatment is just as therapeutic for me as it is for my clients. I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of the best hour of your day! While deep tissue therapy and finding trigger points are my bread and butter, I enjoy the challenge of adapting to find the goldilocks bowl of the perfect treatment for each client!

I am very excited to receive my certification in Graston Technique and Dynamic Myofascial Cupping, this coming spring and summer, as I am looking to broaden my ability to treat muscle pain and acute and chronic muscle conditions. The wellness industry offers so many wonderful tools to address almost every health issue and in the most pure and natural way!

I look forward to sharing my practice with you and your family, and hope to see you at the clinic soon!”
